Music

Via Lexie at Lexical Light, who via’d Marla, I thought I would participate in this music meme. I could write about how cold it is outside. This is the alternative.

If you want to do this on your blog, here are the directions: go to this link, enter the year you graduated from high school in the search space, and post the list. Then you bold the songs you like, strike out the songs you didn’t like, and do nothing to the songs that do not inspire any type of memorable reaction.

  • Oh, come on Mopsy. How can you not love such hair band classics as 18 and Life or Love in an Elevator?? NOT. I did like “Cherish” by Madonna, though. It had a catchy tune. So catchy that now it’s stuck in my head. “Cherish the thought…”

  • hamster

Big smile. I’d forgotten Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle were two different songs. . .

  • That’s some prerogative usage, there, Mopsy!

Our kids church is decorated as a jungle and referred to the Jungle. The first line of the G&R songs is so fits. “Welcome to the jungle, we’ve got fun and games.” I’ve taught my kids to sing that first part when they see the children’s pastor. Train them up…..:)

(I don’t know the rest of the lyrics and emphasize that it’s only the first part we sing.)

  • I don’t even know how to do a strike through line? How do you make that happen with computer magic? If I can learn that maybe I’ll participate in this meme. Many of my songs will be similar – 1990. (Ah! Those were the big hair days.) Hey…if we were really brave we could have a “Post your biggest hair photo.” I guarantee mine would blow you away. I think I am single handidly responsible for the missing chunk of ozone!

  • Tracy (tjly)

I just did it for 1988 and didn’t even recognize half the songs. Either I have already forgotten the music of my youth in my dottage or this isn’t right…LOL!

  • Stacey

Oh man, you crossed out some good tunes!! I’m taking a wild guess here, but 1989? Am I right?

  • Julana

    I’m older than I thought. I’m glad I graduated in the 70’s. 🙂

  • JoAnn

WOW! You really crossed out some of my faves. You and my dh would get along great, he despises Cher! LOL!

I’m going to try my year. Even though I have no blog. 🙂

I didn’t really listen to pop music. I thought of myself as “deep” and “mature”. I listened to a lot of alternative music. That’s why so much is crossed out.

  • JoAnn

I had dh do the list too, to see if we had similiar interests in 1988, as we are sooo opposite right now. And yes, he crossed off alot too, due to the pop music only on the list. He was into the harder rock things. I guess.
