Cool and quiet fish, that’s me

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and encouragement! The baby is spunkier today and I feel much more at peace—although much of my energy is focused on the business of my belly. Every roll, kick, flicker, shiver, and punch puts a smile on my face. I hope we simply caught the baby on a green day.

I’m impressed with the confidence of those who you who are convinced the baby is a girl. I have zero intuition in the matter. I’ve dreamt it was a boy one night, a girl the next. I also recently dreamt Queen Elizabeth the First was assembling an army of baby giraffes, with my help.

Regarding my due date: unless something drastic happens in the next six hours or so, the baby will be born in September, second half, perhaps summer, perhaps autumn. The theme of this pregnancy has been “Oh. My.”

Oh. My. It stays.

  • I’m glad you had a more active day today, or at least that baby did.

Still praying, and ever so thankful things are at least a little better.

  • Oh my. I have been thinking about you and that baby… so glad to hear all is well. So many prayers going out and we don’t even really know you… you and baby are blessed.

  • I am so glad that the baby is more active today! I will keep you in my prayers.

I don’t have much of an opinion about the baby being a boy or a girl but I must say that if I could choose, I would choose a little girl for you. I just have a real soft spot for girls!

  • I’ll be praying for you each time I think of you. Is there a name that translates “oh, my?”

Have you read “Oh My Baby Little One” by Kathi Appelt? It’s one of the most touching mommy love books ever.

  • Glad to hear the baby is more active today. Have a grat weekend.

  • When I was pregnant with my boy girl twins, I had a very vivid, completely realistic dream in which I was showing my grandfather the baby. When I pulled the blanket back to show him the baby’s face, it turned out I was cradling a roast beef and provolone sub. As it turns out, though, I was pregnant with two babies. Pregnancy dreams are so weird!

  • mopsy

Roast beef and provolone…mmmmmmmmm (said in my best Homer Simpson voice).

  • I had a dream that child one was born as a big head with no body and a full set of grinning teeth, a la the Cheshire cat. Needless to say, I was completely off.

I’ve been thinking of you all day–couldn’t resist coming back to check. Sigh of relief.

  • I’m also horrible with that. I was never able to feel that my baby is a boy or girl. Needed that u/s lol

  • I never had one inkling about the gender of any of my babies – though many would tell me I was holding ‘high’ and ‘low’ and ‘wide’ and ‘forward’ and ‘back’ and whatever else … there was no consistent pattern in their assumptions or my body across the 3 pregnancies.

I’m so glad to hear there is more movement.

    Blessings!

  • I’ve had weird pregnancy dreams myself. I have been pretty good at guessing what my babies were gonna be. I’ve been right so far (girl, boy, girl) and I’ve been right about my sisters (4 boys). But I dunno if I can guess for someone I haven’t looked at!

I’m hoping you have a girl. But I know how much fun boys and girls are (as do you!)

Hoping and praying for you a safe rest of pregnancy and delivery! It’s not long at all for you now. I guess I’m a bit jealous! I’m ready to have mine NOW!! hehe

  • This is my first trip to your blog – someone linked to you on a little “best of” thing I put together. And I just want to tell you, before I forget, that your writing is lyrical and lovely, and reading your words has blessed me.

    That’s all. 🙂

  • I hope you and your September baby are doing well. I’ve always thought it was a girl too…don’t know why. Looking forward to finding out for sure.

  • No gender predictions here! I missed your worrisome day, but will pray for you now and until the happy end of your pregnancy. Sometimes I think the end is more nervewracking than the beginning.
