“Young Folks” by Peter, Bjorn, and John. I discovered this song last February. It reminds me of having a cold for three months and demands to be whistled.
“Fidelity” by Regina Spektor
“Teardrops” by Jose Gonzalez
“Say it Right” by Nelly Furtado. Heard it in Florida over and over, so it is the Florida song.
“Summer Breeze”—the Jason Mraz version
“Life is Wonderful” by Jason Mraz
“Spring And By Summer Fall” by Blonde Redhead. Post miscarriage howling.
“Dancing Close Again” by Linford Detweiller. Impassioned piano instrumental. It was the song that came on my iPod as we left to go to the hospital. Then, when we were driving home, I reshuffled and it came on again. I’ll always associate it with saying goodbye.
“I’m Not Going to Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You” by Black Kids. Bizarre and utterly catchy.
“I Feel It All” by Feist. Cause I do.
“Mushaboom” by Feist—reminds me of when my husband and I were just engaged.
“O-o-o Child” by The Five Stairsteps. Someday.
“What is the Light?” by The Flaming Lips because it was featured in The Impossible Quiz which I figured out. Try it. You will hate me.
“Oh My God” by Jars of Clay. The last minute and forty seconds of this song kill me.
“Cathedrals” by Jump Little Children. Haunting, lovely.
“Sister Winter” by Sufjan Stevens. It’s on his Christmas CD, but I can listen to it any time. Melancholy, celebratory, introspective, joyous—all at the same time. Genius.
“The Look of Love, Pt. 1” by ABC. It’s my retro offering #1.
“Sounds Like a Melody” by Alphaville. Retro #2.
“Hurry On Now” by Alice Russell. Incredible vocals. Love the blues/soul/jazzy 70s vibe.
“The Long Day is Over” by Norah Jones.

Ok, you really are cool. I have never, ever, ever EVER heard anyone else say that they love Jump Little Children, let alone Cathedrals. I adore that song.

You have a fabulous 2007 soundtrack! “Sister Winter” was my favorite Christmas song this year. Well, and maybe “It’s a Marshmallow World” 🙂 too. “Fidelity” and “Teardrops” and “Young Folks” and Feist and Jason Mraz have all been prominently featured on my iPod this year too. I’d probably add something by Jack Johnson, the Plain White T’s “Lonely September” or “Hey There Delilah”, and something by Lily Allen.
