…people like lists (vol. 10)

1. Now everyone can roast a turkey without fear of rendering it a hollowed-out carcass of brittle bone and skin a la Christmas Vacation. Click here to Roast a Virtual Turkey! You control the oven and the temperature. I currently have a 10-pound bird roasting at 350 degrees. Inside my computer. I’m saving the neck for Cousin Eddie.

2. Sugar cookie infused foods are killing me softly with their songs. Target’s Archer Farms has rendered me almost silly with it’s Sugar Cookie ice cream. I’ve never been one to hoard, but I hoard this ice cream and dole it out in careful amounts. Then Sonic introduced its Sugar Cookie Blast ice cream shake. It sports 829 calories, so it’s a very, very occasional treat. Celestial Seasonings holiday teas are in the shops. I picked up a box of Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride. How predictable.

3. Here’s a very, very, very easy pumpkin spice cupcake recipe. I made some for the kiddos to eat on Thanksgiving last year. Will make more this year. It’s a given.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

1 box of spice cake mix
1 can of pumpkin
2 egg white
3/4 cup water

Mix the ingredients, pour into cupcake liners, bake for 18-20 minutes at 350. Frost.

4. Don’t tell my kids, but I think we are going to take them to Tuba Christmas, an annual holiday event in downtown Denver. Imagine 300 people playing Christmas classics on tubas. I’m surprised we haven’t done this yet. It’s just the kind of oddball thing I like exposing my kids to.

5. Are you wondering where and when to catch all the classic holiday specials on TV? Here’s a comprehensive list of shows, networks, and dates compiled in a handy chart.

6. I’ve entered some of my Hipstamatic prints in a contest. One is doing pretty well, but I’d appreciate some more votes. A little boost. Here’s the photo:

If you like it, vote here. You need to have a Twitter or Facebook account. Or both. Thank you.

  • So, if I clicked to “like” it then I voted for it? If so, done and done!

I also got the Sugar Cookie tea from Celestial Seasonings last week. It’s nice. Thankfully we don’t have a Target close by or I would be a GONER over that ice cream.

Thank you for the Christmas TV link!

I do so enjoy your lists. รขโ„ขยฅ

We went to Tuba Christmas here in Tucson last year, and loved it. For some reason, Joshua had just become fascinated with tubas about three weeks earlier and talked about them daily. Imagine my delight seeing the blurb for Tuba Christmas in the newspaper. It was a must — and free! I have to admit we were among the very few in the audience not blood-related to anyone on stage. We will certainly go again this year! I didn’t realize that tuba players have their own world, and welcomed us into it that day, at least for a little while.

I always love reading your lists! This one was chocked full of fun and helpful little tidbits!

Christmas Vacation is one of my favorites! I’m trying to hold off on watching it until after Turkey Day. If only I had a dickie and a moose cup for my eggnog…

  • I may have to try that ice cream…sounds delicious! I’m not supposed to be eating wheat flour, but I usually cheat a little bit on the weekends.

If they had Tuba Christmas here, I’d be there! I took Anja to listen to an old-timers’ band right before the 4th of July. There were very few people there not sporting white or gray hair, but we loved it (probably me more than her). ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I loved and I voted! I want a print of that – it’s gorgeous.
We have Tuba Christmas here too… thanks for reminding me off it!

Hey Gretchen, have you heard Minus the Bear? I highly recommend you check out their disc, OMNI…. brilliant!!!

    Hoping you are well ๐Ÿ™‚

  • The calorie count on that Sonic shake had my eyeballs popping out of my head. But that wouldn’t stop me from eating it. I’ll have to check that out.

You know how I love your lists.

  • I voted! Twice! ๐Ÿ™‚
