That girl is poison!

My new-to-many Mile High Mamas post is up today.

It’s about poison and those who help us control it. It also includes an embarrassing anecdote from my first pregnancy.

Bonus: one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite shows, Scrubs. It involves the word of the day. Watch it here.

Easter in eight…

…pictures.

You didn’t know this was actually a photo blog. All the writing I’ve done was to hide my true passion—being an artsy-fartsy photographer. Everyone with a digital camera in their hands is suddenly an artiste, including me.

Just kidding. Maybe I’ll write something, sometime? Maybe I secretly enjoy clogging up the internet with photos of my random knick-knacks?

If you don’t hear from me for a few days it’s because I am not here. The kiddos are on spring break and I am whisking them over the mountains for a change of scenery. By myself. Pray for me!

Mourning Friday, Good Friday

fall

winter

spring

I once read Germans refer to today as “Mourning Friday”. We call it Good Friday.

Both are right.

I took the pictures of a tree in our yard with the intention of following it through the seasons. The gorgeous splendor of fall helps us forget the coming winter and its love of the skeletal. The leaves in the middle picture made me think of the tree’s final breaths, drops of blood or tears—a last gasp. It’s hard to imagine where the life and luster hide.

Roaring back fragrantly and innocent pink, the tree is adorned in juicy flowers if the bees buzzing around my camera were right. It is Spring. You can’t keep a good tree down.

Or a Good God.

It is the hour to rend thy chains,
The blossom time of souls.
