Dispatch from Bellyland

Trimester: Second

Weight gained/lost since beginning: negative 4 pounds

Current craving: corned beef/roast beef

Irrational worry du jour:ร‚ย was that home-cooked hamburger I ate for dinner last night too pink?

Maternity clothes wardrobe count: 1 pair brown pants, 1 pair cropped jeans with embroidered pockets, 1 pair black yoga pants, 1 pair black dress pants, 1 white shirt, 1 black shirt, 1 brown shirt, 1 blue shirt, 1 white and blue embroidered shirt. I had to start from scratch since I gave EVERYTHING away last fall. I only just started wearing maternity in the past two weeks—due to a mix of superstition and feeling stupid for wearing maternity in the first trimester. I am still not inร‚ย maternity 100% and won’t ever be. I like the more fitted maternity look than the circus tent look.

Last doppler check: yesterday, early afternoon. Good galloping heartrate.

September: too far away

  • So what’s your maternity pants preference — under the belly waistband or the huge panel? I actually prefer the panel, but I’m not comfortable in low riders even when not pregnant. ๐Ÿ™‚

Glad to hear all is going well!

  • Ahh, pregnancy news. Yay! Glad the heartrate is galloping away. Glad you’re starting to go in maternity.

    Impressed you’ve LOST 4 pounds.

I like the more fitted look, too. My mother was appalled by it, though. She kept buying me these huge, XXL t-shirts that were just huge.

Sounds like you have some cute clothes to see you through the summer.

Right now my pants have the under-the-belly waistband, which works. Eventually, I will approach looking like a manatee and then the paneled pants will have to come out—if they still make them anymore! I’ve noticed many of the stores seem to be selling nothing but under-belly or wide waistband pants.

Great news. And you’re well ahead of me in the maternity clothes department already. I only have two pairs of maternity pants and three maternity shirts.

  • How on earth have you lost 4 pounds?

  • So I take it you’re not a vegetarian? ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy second trimester of meat to you!

  • I was just coming to your blog to see how you are doing and see if there was any pregnancy news. So happy to hear you have arrived at the second trimester. That calls for a celebration-new maternity clothes should do it!

  • Glad to hear baby’s got a great galloping HB. I’ve really been craving steak this pg. Haven’t gotten any yet though.

  • I’m glad to be getting a pregnancy update. I dont’ like the circus tent look either LOL I try to wear “normal” clothes for as long as possible

Shannon—it’s easy to lose four pounds when you find yourself hunched over a toilet trying to hold your hair back, making noises your little boys find alarming but funny at the same time. Ugh! Thankfully, it is going away. I still am waiting for my appetite to get back from wherever it went.

  • Glad to hear the baby news second trimister is always fun.

    negative pounds???!!!???? grrr….

  • Maternity clothes! Wow, this is going by quickly–well, at least for me! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I am so glad that all is well. Corned beef will probably help you start gaining a little weight–but be careful!!! Too much of it could be a bad thing, especially if eaten with cabbage!

    Have a lovely day, Mopsy!

  • Just stopping in to say CONGRATULATIONS!

I’m mostly a lurker but I couldn’t help myself, after weeping through your posts on loss.

I hope this pregnancy will continue well and you’ll hold a healthy little one in your arms in September!

  • I’m also starting from scratch with the maternity clothes. I gave mine away too! I’m trying to order now a bit here and there before I need them! -4 pounds! Ack! You’re further along than me and I’ve already gained….ummm…a bit! Ah well.

(Oh to be in my 2nd trimester! I am trying not to be jealous! ๐Ÿ™‚ )

The name “Juicebox” was great! I think our sons would get on well!

  • I am tickled to discover that you also organize your clothes with lists. Last time I was pregnant I sat down and wrote out all I had and all I needed. I am a lister anyway, but I thought at the time, maybe this is kind of obsessive. I hope the sicko part is over very quickly for you.

So glad to hear it’s going well! That heartbeat is a wonder, isn’t it?!

  • Just found your blog. Glad to know that you’re in your second trimester.

So sorry about your losses before, I myself had two miscarriages and then had my son ๐Ÿ™‚
Will keep you in my prayers ๐Ÿ™‚
    God Bless!!!
