A request

Please keep Russ, his wife, and his unborn baby in your prayers today. He left this comment on my rainbow post:

We have an ultrasound on Wednesday, to determine if our little one is going to have a severe heart defect that may or may not be fatal. I hope we both have good news by Thursday.

I hope you get reassuring news today, Russ.

Good luck to Russ and his family, you will be in my thoughts and prayers!

  • It must be that clashing gene that’s so prevalent in men, thought my dd has on hawaiin print pants and a pink camo shirt today.

Will remember Russ & family in prayer.

    Gretchen,

I stopped by your site today and was surpised to see your request for people to keep us in their prayers… it was humbling, and caused me to get all teary-eyed. Thank you so very much, because I know that your prayers have certainly helped.

The genetic defect the doctors were concerned about is called Trisomy 18, which is usually fatal, with most of the babies dying before birth and those who do make it to birth typically living only a few days. Apparently, one of the hallmarks of Trisomy 18 is that the baby is remarkably small and lacking in development. I cannot even tell you what a relief it was when they ran the ultrasound, and found that our beautiful baby boy is within one day of his due date (developmentally speaking). They will run another ultrasound in two months, but said they are 99% sure that there is no problem with the baby.

Thanks be to God! And thank you – really – thank you for keeping us in your prayers. Gretchen, you are still in our prayers (several times a day) and we hope that all is well with you and your little one tomorrow.

What wonderful news! I am so happy to read this! And a baby boy, too? How sweet—your three daughters will have a baby brother to dote on.

Thanks for updating. I hope you didn’t mind seeing my post and it wasn’t too much of a shock 🙂

I didn’t mind the post at all; I really appreciated it actually. We’re pretty excited for the little guy, though I would have been just as happy with another girl (they’re all great!) Now we just have to shop for little boy stuff. And think of a name. Hmmmm…

Thank you again for your prayers, post and kindness. We’re pulling for you here, hoping and praying (along with many others now)that tomorrow brings good news for you.
