Me:
I am married to a square-jawed, eagle-eyed, iron-stomached, infinately patient and handsome man named Lee. We have been together for fourteen years, married for thirteen. He is my best friend. We’ve weathered “the terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles,” to quote Homer Simpson. He loves sci fi, I don’t. He loves cheesecake, I don’t. He loves geeky things and gadgets. I don’t so much. But I love him.
I am the mother of Aidan Elizabeth, 13.
I am the mother of Ryley, 11.
I am the mother of Sam, 10.
I am the mother of Tommy, 8.
I am the mother of Joel, 6.
I am the mother of Beatrix, 3
I am the mother of Archie, born on January 5, 2009.
I am the mother of Theodore, born on August 23, 2010.
Why write it that way? I am a different mother to each of my kids. One kid met me when I was 26 and another when I was 30 and another when I was 37. Some of my kids are laid back souls, others are more tightly-wound. Being a mother to Sam and being a mother to Joel are two very different experiences and I am blessed to have this rich experience on a daily basis. They are good, bright, sweet kids and I am proud of each of them.
I experienced two pregnancy losses in 2005, one in 2007, one in 2008. I mention this because those sorrows are hardwired into my soul and I have written extensively on pregnancy loss, the aftermath, the recovery, the lingering issues.
I am an English Literature major. That’s why I hate books. Just kidding. It is why I hated books for awhile. I still eye them suspiciously and have the urge to write a paper when I’m done. I am not kidding about that.
I live somewhere near Denver, Colorado. Denver is famous for green pepper and ham omelettes. It is also the birthplace of the cheeseburger and Christmas lights. The campy 1980′s nighttime soap, “Dynasty”, was set in Denver. I am more Krystal than Alexis.
If you ever come visit me, I will take you to Casa Bonita for all-you-can-eat sopapillas.
I am a Christian. I believe in the Apostle’s Creed. Here is a link to my testimony.
I am a published writer.
I write for two other blogs, Mile High Mamas and 5 Minutes for Parenting. I also have a photo blog called snap cake.
The links to these other blogs are in my sidebar.
